Sentiment analysis explained

CitedSpy classifies every brand mention as positive, neutral, or negative.

How it works

When your brand is mentioned in an AI response, the surrounding text is analyzed for sentiment signals:

  • Positive - phrases like "highly recommended", "best in class", "excellent choice".
  • Neutral - factual mentions without strong opinion, like "Company X offers this feature".
  • Negative - phrases like "has issues with", "not recommended", "falls short".

Viewing sentiment

Sentiment breakdown appears on the Dashboard and in individual run details. You can filter by sentiment type to see only positive or negative mentions.

Why it matters

If AI engines consistently describe your brand negatively, it may be reflecting public perception from your online presence. Improving reviews, documentation, and content quality can shift sentiment over time.
